This is a running commentary on a new course "Robotics for Grandparents" being taught, starting in Fall 2009, at San Antonio's Academy of Learning in Retirement. The course uses Lego Mindstorms NXT robots and a curriculum based on one developed by Carnegie Mellon University. Anyone can comment on this blog; you need not join anything to comment anonymously.

Day 2 - Moving!
In this week's lesson, we worked on moving the robot around, combining the MOVE block with things we already knew. It was interesting to see the different teams' approach to solving the problem.
I'm Tom O'Brien, a retired electrical engineer. BS (Electrical Engineering), Texas A&M; MS (Telecommunications), Southern Methodist U. Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas. I retired after 40 years in industry, including Space Shuttle and Space Station robotics (SRMS, SSRMS). I'm active as a volunteer in youth Robotics programs.
